saturday-8 :: BOO!
1. happy hallowe'en! did you celebrate hallowe'en as a child?
YES!!!!
2. did you know that origins of hallowe'en, or did you just go along with it?
I was told that it was called "All Hallows Eve" and made to think that it was just the day before all Saint's day. :)
3. many 'christians' refuse to celebrate hallowe'en because they feel it is "satan's holiday." what is your feeling on that?
Now that I am older and know the origins of Halloween, I can safely say that it is not satan's holiday because satan is a Christian concept. And, the origins of Halloween comes from before Christianity. Christianity just adopted Halloween so that the pagan religions that they were trying to convert would accept them better.
4. as an adult, do you ever dress up for hallowe'en?
OF course!!!! Don't you???
5. do you give out candy every year to trick or treaters, or do you turn off your lights and pretend you're not home?
Give out candy. This is a fun day for kids of all ages. Besides someone has to do it to scare away all the bad hobgoblins and ghosts!!! :P
6. what's the best hallowe'en costume you've ever had? tell us about it.
Probably the one that I wore when I was working at McDonald's. Halloween was a weekday and I was working 7am-4pm. I was supposed to be the production manager, but the store manager like my costume so much she put me in drive through where people in drive through could see me as well as the people on front counter. Now this was in my younger days, where I didn't have my tummy. I put on a black long sleeve shirt to cover my hair, over that I had on my wife's sundress. It was pink with a floral motif on it. I had on 3 pairs of panty hose to hide my furry legs. My wife made me wear a bra and she stuffed it so it looked natural, and put my make up on. And, for the hair, my mother-in-law had this really nice long haired red wig which she let me wear. :)
I walked in and the store manager started poking my boobs and asking if they were real. The maintenance man about tackled her to make her stop because he thought that I was a real woman. I was told by numerous other women that I worked with at the time to not ever dress up like that again because I looked better than they did. And, the thing that got me the best was I was being hit on in drive through by all these guys. One of the ones that hit on me the hardest, when I handed him his food he looked up at me and got this look like he was going to crap his pants. His mouth hung open for a second and his eyes got huge. The next words out of his mouth were, "Man, you got some guts." By this time, all the guys in the car had taken a good look at me and realized that they were hitting on a guy and started laughing. I just said, "Thank you very much, and have a Happy Halloween." That was the busiest day we had for a long time between the hours of 2 and 4. All these guys kept on coming through and hitting on me. I think I turned into a frat hazing or something. :P
7. what's the best hallowe'en costume you've ever seen, either on the 'net, on TV/movies or in real life?
Any year on Roseanne. :)
8. do you have a hard time NOT eating the hallowe'en candy before you give it out? ;)
I used to...but lately candy hasn't had the same appeal. *shrug*
see you next week! be safe!
Saturday 8
Naughty Little Impulse
What is your naughty little impulse never acted upon? Ever wanted to kiss your boss? Do you often feel like telling your mother-in-law that she’s a self-centered, controlling witch—over Thanksgiving Dinner? Do you sometimes feel the compulsion to pick up your man’s dirty socks, which are constantly strewn about the floor irresponsibly, and ball it into his sleeping, snore-opened mouth? Ever wanted to steal something just for the thrill of it? Or is your impulse more along the lines of seducing that hunk from the mail room? Tell us about some naughty impulse you’ve had—or have frequently—and the circumstances surrounding it. This is a classic Saturday Slant revisited from 42 weeks ago.
I saw this one and really wanted to answer it because of the line about telling your mother-in-law off over Thanksgiving dinner. I like my mother-in-law, and I hate confrontation, so I wouldn't do this, but a friend of mine found out that her younger sister met this guy over the internet and was going to marry him like 3 months later without ever meeting him in person. She went home for Thanksgiving and before she went she kept on saying, "I'm going to ask for the cranberry sauce to be passed and just lay into her." Well her sister brought her fiance to dinner, so my friend wasn't going to make a scene in front of them. She had just decided to let it go when low and behold, her sister asked her to pass the cranberry sauce. She just couldn't let that go. It was like a sign!!! *cackle*
But, I didn't think that there were any naughty little impulses that I never acted up. And, when I told my wife this, she snickered and said, "You are a naughty little impulse." I am not sure what that means, but then one look at her and I get all these great ideas about what we could be doing right now. *lecherous smile*
1.Are you registered to vote? Why/why not? If you are registered, will you actually go vote this year?
I think so. I don't think that I have to reregister again. The missus was going to do that. :)
I am going to vote. There are a couple of issues in my area that I would like a say in. They want to put the 6th graders in with the 7th and 8th graders and close another school in our area because of budget crisis. I say instead of closing the schools give the teachers who are making upwards of 45,000 a year and principals that are making upwards of 60,000 a year a pay cut. I mean yeah great awesome they are teaching. But, I am in the nursing field. A Registered Nurse at a Nursing home, which should be the highest pay for a nurse, is only making 25000-35000 a year. Speaking of nurses, there is like one nurse for both of the junior highs and the ninth grade center. She moves through all three. :(
2. Many people feel this particular election is very important this time around. Do you know why? Do you agree with it?
I don't really know why it is more important than any other time. I agree that we need to tell Mr. Bush that we weren't happy with the way he ran things. :)
3. Do you think that the citizens of this country actually have a say-so in what goes on, or do you think the government just wants us to think we do? We're going on 230 years of this particular form of running the government....does it work?
I think that citizens have a say so on the community and state level and a little bit on country level. But, there are so many opinions on the country level that not everyone can get their way. :)
I think it works just fine. How many other countries can say that their governments are working the way that they had envisioned. :)
Bonus Question for Comments: If you could reform one aspect of our election system, what would it be?
I would get rid of the electoral college. I mean living in Kansas there is no reason for me to vote for a president because the electoral college ALWAYS votes for a Republican. Bob Dole who was born and raised in Kansas, didn't stop in Kansas. Well, he did, but only in the very small town he was born in. :)
Week 29 - Animal shows
Animals have always been a part of the TV market, from commercials, to their own shows, even their own channels, let's talk animals!! :)
1. What's your favorite or least favorite "wildlife" show? Why?
My favorite is the Croc Hunter because he is psycho!!! :P
2. Who's your favorite animal TV star?
Good question. I liked Flipper when I was younger. Buck the dog was pretty cool also. :)
3. What animal (pet or wildlife) shows do you watch?
Croc Hunter. I think that is about it. :P
~Bonus~ For pet lovers, if your pets had their own TV show what would it be called? Why?
Hey! Hey!!! We are the Cats!!! *cackle*
Remember to leave your link or answers in the comments!! :)
TV Tuesday
Today is just for fun due to the upcoming holiday. Let's see how you all feel about ......all things evil!
October 24th, 2004
Trigger #66: All Things Evil?
1. Are you supersticious? If so, about what? If not, why?
Not really, but probably about some things. Isn't everyone. :)
2. Are you afraid of black cats? Why or why not?
Nope. I love them!!! They got more character. :)
3. Have you ever practiced withcraft or do you know someone who has or is practicing witchcraft?
I don't practice or know anyone at the moment that really does. I have used some of the spells. More like the luck charms than anything else. Never had an inclination to change something drastically, but a little push never hurt. :)
4. Do you believe in vampires? Why or why not?
I didn't until I read a book called, "Vampires Among Us". It explained some different ways that vampires can exist. Without the Hollywood hype. I don't believe in Hollywood's vampires.
5. Do you believe that someone could practice voodoo or cast spells on people affectively? Why or why not?
Yes. But, they need to really believe in what they are doing. :)
6. Do you believe in ghosts or the afterlife? Why or why not?
Yes. I believe that spirit has to go somewhere. We are all energy. And, energy never stops.
7. Do you believe in a whole different dimension where the dead walk among the living? Why or why not?
I believe that the dead walk among the living here. I believe that there are some people more open to the different layers of the world. But, if you are on the mortal layer, you can only see the layer right next to it. Some people might be able to see the layer after that, but I think it would be to cloudy. And, no I don't believe in most of those fortune tellers. :)
8. Do you believe in God, heaven and/or hell? Why or why not?
I don't disbelieve in God. But, the whole heaven and hell concept just doesn't mesh well. I mean I was raised Catholic and taught that if you are good then you will go to heaven. And, if you are bad then you go to hell. But, God is all forgiving. So he should be able to show the bad people their bad ways and boom they are good now. Maybe that is really what hell is. That 30 seconds to show the bad people the bad ways from the other side of their bad ways. *shrug*
9. Do you celebrate Halloween? Why or why not?
Of course. What other time of the year can you let your real self out and nobody think any worse of you. :)
10. In your opinion, does Halloween stir the dead and wake them from their slumber? Do they rise to haunt on that evening? Why or why not?
I believe that it wakes the spirits of the dead. Not neccessarily the dead themselves. I don't know about rising to haunt though. It is just the time where both the afterlife and this life are in close connection.
Health...
1. Do you take vitamins and if so, what?
My wife wants me to. :)
2. Do you make an effort to eat healthy, or you eat whatever you feel like eating?
A little bit. But, I usually eat whatever sounds good at the time. :)
3. What two types of food do you have a hard time staying away from?
I would say my wife's lasagna and fast food. :)
4. What are two food items you refuse to eat?
I don't really know. I am not fond of peas and I don't think I could ever eat sushi. But, other than that. I couldn't tell you. :)
5. Are you pleased with your daily diet or do you think it could be better?
I think that it could be a lot better. :)
Tuesday Twosome
We've been doing a lot of redecorating around our home lately and checking out some of the home decorating shows, I'd never really watched them before but have found a few kind of interesting so this week Home shows are in the spotlight!
1. Do you watch home shows regularly? If so, which ones?
Nope. Sure don't
2. Have you ever followed a tip that you learned from a home show or TV?
Not that I can remember
3. What is the best (worst,stupidest,coolest...) thing you've ever seen on a home show?
I have seen some stupid decorating ideas. *shrug* I think that is why I don't watch them. :)
~Bonus~ If your home had it's own show what would it be called? Why?
I don't have any idea. I am not very good. Something like My House, or Ron's Mess. *shrug*
TV Tuesday
What are the first four things you think of when I say
Books
The Shannara series by Terry Brooks
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
The Green Rider series by Kristen Britain
1) What size is your bed?
Queen
2) Do you prefer fabric sofas or leather sofas? What do you have?
Fabric. I can't stand peeling myself off of a leather sofa. And, we own cats. Them and leather furniture do NOT get along. :) Needless to say we own a fabric one. :)
3) What wood stain color is your favorite? (Pine, walnut, cherry, etc.)
I like the dark cherry oak. :)
4) What piece of furniture is at the top of your wish list right now?
An entertainment center. :)
5) Do you have a piece of furniture in your home that doesn’t seem to fit but that you can’t bear to part with?
Nope. The missus viciously cleaned house this year. :P
Do you like to talk on the phone?
NO!!!
Do you talk for a long time or like to get off quickly?
I like to get off quickly. *mgrin*
Who uses the phone the most in your family?
I do. *sigh* *giggle*
Do you have to look up peoples numbers or do you know most of them by heart?
I have to look up numbers. If the missus is there, then she gets fed up and takes the phone book away and looks them up for me. :)
Are you good about returning someone's phone call?
Most of the time.

Trigger #56: Cleaning
1. How often or how many times each year do you clean your oven?
I probably clean it like once a year. Maybe. :)
2. How often or how many times each year do you clean your refrigerator?
I clean it about every 3 months. When I notice that some of the left overs have turned into a science experiment. :P
3. Do you spring clean? If so, do you fall clean as well?
Usually. and usually. :)
4. Have you already packed up summer attire and prepared for the onset of winter? How so?
Not yet. :) I have started wearing jeans. :)
5. Do you hate throwing things out just because they are not being used? Are you a pack rat? How often do you go through your house and get rid of the unnecessary?
Of course. YES. Not very often. :)
It is about time. SSI FINALLY approved the little woman for disability. We have been trying to get this for 2 years. But, we finally did it. I guess that attack of pnuemonia back in January actually did some good. I got her to go to the doctor quite a bit, and with all the stuff that the doctors have put in, they think that she should probably qualify. Hello!!! She can barely walk to the living room from the bed room and you guess that she qualifies. I mean I understand that you don't just want to give it to everyone that applies. And, I understand that because of the Republicans, there isn't much money in social security. But, you can give it to people that need it. And, besides from day one we said that all we wanted was a medical card. If they want to give us more, GREAT, but all we needed was the medical card. Sometimes I think that other countries have the right of it. EVERYONE should receive proper medical care whether they can pay for it or not.
That is my 2 cents. :)
Worrier...
1. What two things in your life do you worry about the most?
My wife and my wife's health. :)
2. What two things in your life do you worry about the least?
Me and what others think of me. :)
3. Does worrying cause you physical pain or not? If yes, what?
Not that I know of. *shrug* Gives me gas occassionally.
4. What are two things/ways do you use/do to ease your worries?
*shrug* act a little crazier. :P
5. What are two things you would give up in your life just to be worry-free?
My job, and being poor
Tuesday Twosome
It's officially fall and most of the new shows and new seasons have started, let's talk!!
1. Is there a new show that's caught your attention? Good or bad?
I can't think of any off the top of my head. :(
I do like Judging Amy, Law & Order, CSI is cool too, oh and Crossing Jordan!!! :)
2. Were there any season premieres you were just dying to see? Did they live up to the wait?
Once again, I can't remember. I don't even remember seeing any season premieres. :(
3. What's your all time favorite season or show premiere?
I think it would be JAG. Maybe. *shrug*
~Bonus~ Did you ever end up liking a show that you disliked the premiere of? Which show? Why?
Don't know. *cackle*
TV Tuesday
The infamous "69" position... Do you like it, love it, or hate it? Is it twice the pleasure or just a distraction? Would you rather give then receive, or vice versa? Do you do it because you want things to be "equal." Have you tried it other than laying down?
I love it. :) It adds more pleasure for me. I don't know what the missus thinks though. I love to be on the giving end. I don't mind if I don't "get off" as long as the missus does. :) We have done one or the other in different positions, but not the "69" itself. We have done that in different lying down positions. Neither one of us is agile enough to hang upside down though. *cackle*
Sexy Saturday
Friday Night Lights opens this weekend in theaters. So this week it's all about Football.
1) What's your favorite football movie?
It used to be "Wildcats" but now I think I prefer "The Replacements"
2) Do you think films accurately portray foootball players?
Definitely not. Films take some of the aspects and then highlight them. "Jerry McGuire" for instance is supposed to be about a football player and his manager. And, one of the scenes has the manager tell the football player how to play football. I mean skinny little snot telling big football player how to play????
3) What football movie was so bad, so far fetched, so poorly acted, or so over dramatized that it was painful to watch?
The one with the all girls team. I don't remember the name of it, but it was awful. Now don't get me wrong. My wife played line on the guys Varsity football team in high school. And, some of the girls in my high school could have easily taken the guys in over athletic ability, but the portraying of these women was done so poorly that I think it took women in sports back 10 years. Which is pretty bad because the movie came out about 20 years ago when women were just getting their feet in the door and being allowed to actually play the sports they really wanted to play. Like football. :)
I did like the one where Helen Hunt was the quarter back. That actually portrayed what women had to go through to play guy dominated sports. :)
BONUS) If you were making a football film, what actor would you want to portray your star quarterback? The coach?
Sandra Bullock for the quarterback and Sean Connery for the coach. It would have to be a comedy though. Since those are the best football movies. :)
Thursday Theatre
Do you like Fall?
I love it!!! :)
Do you have decorations up yet?
A couple. :)
Spooky decorations or cute decorations?
Cute, so far. :)
Do you go all out or keep it simple?
Keep it simple so far. I don't know what my wife has planned yet.
Do you have a lot of leaves to rake this time of year?
Nope. I mow them. :)
Thursday Tattle
It's football season! Know how I can tell? Everything I want to watch has been cancelled for a game! ACK!! So this week we'll look at sports! :)
1. Do you watch sports on TV? If so, which?
Not if I can help it. But, I do have to watch K-State football. :)
2. Is there a sport you'd like to see more (or less) of on TV?
I would like to see a lot less sports on TV in general. The only one that I would like to see more of is probably Soccer. :)
3. What's the most memorable sports moment you've seen on TV?
That guy that went skiing across the puddle in greatest sports bloopers. That was funny. It was like their opening shot for YEARS!!! :)
~Bonus~ If you could be a star of any sport, what sport would you pick? And why?
Soccer. I have played it for years and years, but never had the time to practice enough to become professional quality. I was still good enough to get a varsity letter in it all 4 years of high school. :)
How many "close" friends do you have?
2
Do you still talk to your grade school/high school friends?
Nope
If not do you wish you stayed in contact?
Not really
Ever been to a reunion?
Nope
Were you nervous about going?
Nope. I am happy with the way I am turning out. :)
How long is your longest friendship and what is the name of that person?
14 years
